What's Possible

Generational Solutions

Together, we have the opportunity to unlock Saltworks’ potential to help solve generational challenges facing the San Francisco Peninsula. Our partnership seeks community engagement to assist us in determining how best to reimagine Saltworks.

With ferry service coming to Redwood City providing up to 1,950 daily trips between Redwood City and San Francisco, opening Saltworks could facilitate vital connections between transit and job centers.

Connecting People

Reimagining Saltworks provides the opportunity to further expand our region’s pioneering role, bringing people together.

Conservation Efforts

Reimagining Saltworks could provide hundreds of acres for restoration and conservation, preserving the Bay Area’s natural beauty and creating Bay access for generations to come.

Recreational Space

Actively engaging the Bay Area’s natural beauty should be more readily available to the Peninsula’s residents. Help us reimagine Saltworks with a focus on connecting and engaging with the outdoors.

Today, Saltworks’ more than 1,400 acres (over two square miles) are behind a chain link fence. Together we can find solutions for beneficial public use and access both locally and regionally.

Next Steps

The Saltworks partnership has recently received clarification on the federal environmental oversight of the facility, clearing the way for a productive conversation with local and regional leaders, especially the residents and local elected officials of Redwood City, and the public at large to engage about the future of this important site. The conversation is just beginning. Join us!
